We live in an unhealthy society today where the majority of us sit in front of computer all day and we feed ourselves to excess usually with foods that are filled with saturated fats, sugars and too much salt. The result is unhealthy habits that are leading to our rising obesity statistics and illnesses related to America’s new found lifestyle. Then on top of these horrible habits Americans are getting lazy. Now don’t get me wrong personal training and Illuminate Gym are built on building ‘liability’ into people’s pursuit of fitness. After all, 80% of all people who buy simple gym memberships will not return to the gym within 4 months.
Either way the point is with horrible eating habits and a lack of motivation for fitness it shouldn’t be a suprise that we could see the first generation who will have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. That’s a scary statistic to think about isn’t it? The point is that people need to start focusing on what they put in their bodies on a daily basis and also they need to get out of that chair they have grown so accustomed to sitting in and get active! It doesn’t matter what you do, but you have to make time to burn the calories your consuming and make sure you’re not taking in too many calories. It’s a very easy thing to take care of ourselves, yet for some reason we make it very hard for ourselves to take that step to ensure we have a healthy future. Instead we make investments for a healthy financial future, yet we don’t plan for a healthy future???? That doesn’t make any sense at all does it??
It’s time to get out there and start working out for a better future and start looking at the food you are eating and not just tasting it. Have a healthy day and check us out at www.illuminategym.com!

When operating a fitness franchise you enter a business unlike any other. The business is based around service and achieving goals. If you open a food franchise such as, Subway the goal of your customer is very simple…. ‘I’m hungry and a sandwich sounds good.” At a fitness franchise or fitness facility the goals of your customers can be a lot more complex and they are in need of a lot more service to first make realistic expectations and then to achieve them. As a fitness facility owner you have to focus on two major things. Number one, you have to make sure that you are focusing on your customers results no matter what they might be and number two you have to make the experience of your fitness facility a good one. At Illuminate Gym we refer to the experience in our facilities as the ‘gym culture’. Ambiance and comfort is everything to fitness facility and it should be focused on by any entrepreneur who wants to get into the fitness franchise world. It’s not enough to have a bland gym floor with equipment covering it. You need to provide a culture that people want to be a part of. You need to provide a sense of community to your customers. Good luck and if you are interested in hearing more about Illuminate Gym please contact us at www.illuminategym.com or if you would like to read specifically about our franchise opportunities check us out at www.illuminategym.com/franchises.php. Thanks so much for reading and have a healthy day!

‘Why am I not losing weight?’ was the question I heard yesterday at the Illuminate Gym (Sunshine Gym) in Cherry Creek, Colorado. It’s a question we have heard a million times in the personal training world. At Illuminate Gym we always guarantee that at least 2 measurements will change on each and every client within the first month of hiring a personal trainer. However, after that first month a client must start changing their life outside of the gym to continue to see dramatic results. Here are some tips on how you can ensure you give yourself the best chance of losing weight.
1. You have to be active for at least 30 minutes a day.
2. You have to do cardiovascular training along with your weight training.
3. You have to throw out all hollow calories such as, fast foods and high sugar foods.
4. You should try to keep good sleeping habits.
5. Watch what you are putting in your body in the way of liquids. You want to avoid drinking too much alcohol, sodas, or other high sugar refreshments.
6. Try and eat slowly so you can tell when you get full rather than eating quickly until you feel stuffed.
7. Try and cut the calories down later in the evening because you don’t have an opportunity to burn those calories off.
8. Try and cut your carbohydrates after lunch.
9. Drink plenty of water.
10. Avoid high sodium foods.
I hope these ten helpful hints help you lose a little weight. Just remember you can’t blame your personal trainer if you’re not doing your part outside of the gym. Personal trainers are not magicians and they are not able to make significant changes seeing you only for a few hours in a week. You have to do your part and you have to find the will power and discipline to lose weight. Good luck and thanks for reading. Have a healthy day!

So why is obesity on the rise in America with all of these fitness options or gyms out there? Well there really isn’t a simple answer to this question, but I’ll try my best to answer it with my personal opinion. First and foremost, as technology has begun to advance itself we are seeing a change in our the newer generations activity level. Today with computers and video game consoles there is no reason to go out and play because you can do everything in a cyber world. You don’t even need to learn to play an instrument with games like ‘Rock Band’ out there. Then those same kids grow up to work behind a desk and a computer screen. In other words, as a society of people we are not getting enough activity in our day-to-day lives and it’s now starting at childhood. Also our nutrition habits in the United States are starting to slip even further into cheap foods packed with saturated fats, sugars and preservatives. So now we are looking at a society that doesn’t have enough activity and we’re eating poorly and in most instances too much! With this combination you see a society that is 36% obese and 61% over weight. The question is how are all these gyms and fitness options helping with the obesity epidemic in America?? The simple answer is they’re not. Most fitness facilities are selling the dream of a healthier and fit life. However, as soon as you drop that credit card on the table you are let loose into a jungle of fitness equipment which very few no how to use. In other words, most people going to the gym are unclear about how to pursue their fitness goals. So they either waste their time in the gym or they merely stop going. However, they usually always continue to pay for the gym because as I said before fitness facilities are selling the dream of a healthier and fit lifestyle. So now we have people who aren’t active enough, eating horrible and they are members to a gym they don’t know how to properly use.
At Illuminate Gym our philosophy is your health is worth a trained professional. If you didn’t know to build a house would you trust yourself to build your dream home? I didn’t think so, and your body should be no different. At Illuminate Gym we offer the opportunity to have a fitness professional take an active role in your personal fitness journey at an affordable price. We also offer nutritional counseling at no extra cost. We are committed to helping our clients become as fit as they can. Thanks so much for reading the blog here at www.illuminategym.com. Have a healthy day!

It all started with Curves and now Circuit Training has exploded across the fitness franchise world. Everyone in the fitness world is looking for the next ‘Hot Fad’ that will make them rich! It sounds great as Circuit Training limits the amount of work that a gym owner will have and it also cuts down on the expertise needed to effectively get people into shape…. or maybe get people into shape. This common thread between Circuit Training is now crossing into smaller boxing gyms and other weight lifting gyms and the model concerns me greatly. You see Curves came at the perfect time in American society. Baby Boomers were getting older and many of the women in the generation had never been to the gym and quite honestly the gym was widely considered to be a man’s place. So Curves was born and became the place for middle aged women to pursue their fitness goals without the distraction of slamming weights and grunting men. In other words, Curves had little to do with the circuit they offered to their clients and more about the atmosphere provided to their customers. In our opinion at Illuminate Gym circuit training is not the answer to your fitness needs as it doesn’t offer the variation to keep your muscles guessing and it also becomes monotonous and boring to customers. At Illuminate Gym our goal as a fitness franchise has always been to provide a safe environment for clients to pursue their fitness goals but also to offer tailor made regimens that change constantly to ensure our customers have the best opportunity to obtain their fitness goals.
Variety is the spice of life and it is also the spice of a powerful workout regimen that can help you get in the best shape of your life. If you are interested in receiving a tailor made workout regimen for yourself or if you are interested in fitness franchise opportunity then please check us out at www.illuminategym.com! Thanks for reading and have a healthy day!

So the question on every one’s mind is how do I stay fit? And what is fit to you? Is being fit looking a certain way? Is being fit avoiding the health concerns that usually follow obesity and poor eating habits? Whatever fitness is for you it’s important that you stay focused on making it a priority no matter what life throws your way. As time as evolved humans have become much more dependant on technology and their minds rather than their bodies. Because of this change in lifestyle we have become a much more sedentary species that has sacrificed a lot to become more ’sophisticated’ and ‘complex’. Today manual labor continues to shrink and our ability to find food around every corner is so simple that we’re becoming fat. It’s important no matter what your lifestyle consists of that you make sure that you are active for at least 20 minutes a day and also watch your diet as closely as possible because you don’t want to be another obesity statistic.
Today Illuminate Gym is committed through personal training and diet guidelines to help our customers live healthier and more fit lives. If you or someone you know needs help with your fitness before you cross a line of no-return please find a fitness/nutrition professional who can help you conquer your fitness goals or you can contact us here at Illuminate Gym at www.illuminategym.com. Thanks so much for reading and have a healthy day!

“Is this a good time to buy a franchise… and start a business??” is a question we have been hearing from perspective franchisees at illuminate gym for the past 6 months. People are concerned about the economy and the buying power of America as the long recession continues to carry on. In Colorado, we have plans to open at least one more franchise unit by early 2010 and we continue to speaking with people across the United States. However, it’s the question that lingers on which is making people hesitant to become entrepreneurs…. ‘the economy??’ …. ‘it’s the economy stupid!’ , we heard from Bill Clinton in the early ’90’s and we have come full circle again. I can appreciate people’s fears as they look into opening a franchise and the fear that goes into investing money at a time when Americans are not spending as much money. However, at the end of the day starting a franchise during any economic climate is always going to be a risk you have to be willing to take to be a business owner. Today there are some definate pro’s to starting a business during these times….
1. I have never seen landlords so willing to negotiate with franchises on price per square foot because many centers are only partially filled and some money is always better than no money. When the economy turns for the better these same landlords will be less likely to negotiate with such aggressive demands by franchisors and their franchisees.
2. If your business is successful during these tough economic times then you should find your business or franchise flourishing when this economy turns around.
3. At illuminate gym we have also found that some of our preferred vendors are much more likely to offer deals to our franchisees on such things as, exercise equipment.
I personally think right now is wonderful time to start a business and really to start laying the ground work to be very successful in the next few years. You have to remember as an entrepreneur that their is always risk involved with starting your own franchise or business. That risk is what separates entrepreneurs from employees or leaders from soldiers. You have to be willing to take that risk on yourself. As a business owner myself I know that owning your own business can be very challenging but it can also be the most rewarding adventure of your life.
Also as a side note we would like to let you know that we also understand that every franchise opportunity is different but illuminate gym continues to prosper during these tough economic times because we offer incredible service from our personal trainers and the results we obtain with ‘High Oxygen Training’ is really second to none. We have also found in a tough economy that people are still focused on their over all health and fitness. People understand the importance of feeling and being healthy as it pertains to their quality of life. Working out at a place like illuminate gym with a personal trainer is good for people’s physical and psychological well being. At illuminate gym we have found that over the past 6 months we have had an influx of clients who are even out of work right now, yet they still find a way to take care of themselves physically and mentally with future success on their mind. Maybe it’s time you think of your future success! If you are interested in illuminate gym’s franchise opportunities then please give us a call or check us out at www.illuminategym.com/franchises.php. Thanks so much for reading and have a healthy day!

Losing focus on the fight against obesity is easy to to when you are a franchisor. Most franchisors began their career as motivated fitness professionals either as personal trainers or gym owners. Then they came up with the idea of becoming a franchise opportunity across the country and maybe even abroad. So then most of them either hired a franchise consultant or hired a law firm to develop their FDD and then eventually their operation manuals. After the completion of the the FDD and operations manuals then the franchisor begins marketing their franchise opportunity to their region or maybe to the whole country right away. Then the business of getting fit begins to be broken down into catch phrases and numbers in order to sell the franchise to a hopeful franchisee that is already counting the dollars they will make.
Now you’re probably wondering what’s wrong with this business progression. Well I can tell you the biggest problem with this business progression is what happened to the fitness. The business of fitness always seems to outweigh the actual fitness of a fitness franchise’s customers. Many fitness franchises seem to fail because their franchisees are not focused on the actual results or fitness of their customer base. At illuminate gym we refuse to let our personal trainers or our future franchises forget that our clients’ results are the core of our business’ growth. We never want people to say our fitness facilities or our personal trainers were alright. We want people to get value for their hard earned dollars and we want to change their lives. That is the bottom line at illuminate gym and as long as our doors are open we will continue to fight the fight against obesity in America. If we focus on that and our customers we know the illuminate gym model will continue to be a great success. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions about illuminate gym’s franchise opportunities then please give us a call at 1-877-427-2615 or you can check us out at www.illuminategym.com. Have a healthy day and thanks for reading!

Here at illuminate gym we are always looking for the all the best things in the fitness indsutry and fitness franchise world. We’ve taken a lot of time over the past few months to see what franchisees are saying about fitness franchises they have or are currently a part of. Some of the results are extremely staggering and at illuminate gym our goal is to figure out why franchises are getting a bad reputation of not providing a business that is built for success. At illuminate gym we think we have figured out the issue.
After reading many blogs from unhappy franchisees the main issue we see with most fitness franchises is their inability to continue to focus on the number one issue in creating a successful fitness franchise which is the word “FITNESS”. Now it’s true in past blogs I have said that it’s important to provide a strong business in the rear of your franchisees to ensure the best chance of success. However, fitness franchises are not even doing a great job of that becuase they are not focused on their franchisees’ busnisses at all. Not Fitness… Not getting new business… Not even improving the model. Instead fitness franchises are more concerned with selling franchises which is completely understandable because afterall they are franchises. However, like any business if the product you are providing is not good then you will be very hard pressed to continue to grow your business. Many people buying into fitness franchises are finding this to be true as they are forced to shut their doors with little help from their fitness franchisors because they are busy selling their model to other people. Here at illuminate gym we are focused on continuing to evolve our franchise model and also to continue to focus on our main goal which is helping people and fighting obesity in America. We know if we continue to focus on our clients that our franchisees and illuminate gym as a whole will be successful. Thanks for reading and we hope you have a healthy day! Also if you’re looking into buying into a fitness franchise model be sure that the franchise is willing to support you in any way they can. This is your life and a new career path so don’t just become another number on a franchisor’s list. Also please keep in mind that starting a business is always a risk and there is no such thing as a ’sure thing’ in any business including a fitness business.
