“I want to own a fitness franchise!” they proclaim, yet they don’t want to deal with fitness professionals.  That’s right people actually want to own a fitness franchise, but they are afraid to deal with fitness professionals or personal trainers.  I’m not sure if everyone knows this but, if you want to own a fitness franchise then you want to be involved with the fitness industry.  So why you wouldn’t want to employ trained, educated fitness professionals or personal trainers is beyond me. 

I always tell people that becoming a part of the fitness industry is unlike any other industry out there.  You have to sell an experience to people and above all else you must produce results.  The question I always hear after that is ‘what about fitness franchises or gym franchises that offer gym memberships rather than any human interaction?’  That’s a great question about the fitness franchise phenomenon based around a key card system and the ‘24 Hour Fitness business model’.  There also are certainly individuals out there who are producing a living with such membership based franchise units.  However, at the end of the day if your fitness franchise is based around your facility then you should probably hit your knees every night and pray that a larger mega gym with more amenities doesn’t move in and take your complete customer base.
