Last week I spoke to a young man who had contacted Illuminate Gym Franchise Development in hopes to speak with someone who had become successful in the fitness industry. The young man was in college and considering Kinesiology as a major in hopes of becoming a personal trainer after he finished school. However, his parents were less than thrilled about his career choice and they compare it to becoming a hair stylist. I can hear the conversation now between parent and child. ’Why would we spend $40,000 on an education for you to become a part of the service industry?’ Now before I go any further I want the readers of this blog to know that like personal trainers I am well aware that hair stylists can also be extremely successful and I even used Vidal Sassoon and Jonathan Antin as examples of very successful hair stylists.
The point is that this young man has a thirst to help people achieve fitness and a better life and I personally as a parent would applaud my son’s willingness to use his education to help others not only himself. That being said I understand that his parents were merely looking out for their son and their concern wasn’t the industry, but more the money he could make. My answer to people on this subject has always been simple. I personally believe people can make money doing anything in this world. That’s right I said people can make money doing anything in this world. If you’re a parent then you probably think you don’t want your kid to flip burgers for living. However, do you think it was a good idea for Dave Thomas (the founder of Wendy’s hamburgers and Wendy’s the fast-food franchise) to take a job at a diner flipping burgers??? It seemed to work out for him and personal training is no different. I am living proof that you can become a successful entrepreneur out of your successes as a personal trainer. And today that’s what we are trying to share through franchising here at Illuminate Gym Franchise Development. I shared this information with this young man in college and now I feel extremely positive that he will make an educated decision that will help him make the best career decision for himself. Who knows he may even own an Illuminate Gym Franchise location one day.
Thanks so much for reading the blog here at Illuminate Gym Franchise Development. Please keep coming back to read the latest news and fitness franchise developments here at Illuminate Gym.

As a business owner you always have to be assessing your clients and your business to determine why people are going to purchase your service or business. Here at Illuminate Gym Franchise Development there is no doubt that our business is selling the service of fitness through personal training, Yoga and a variety of other fitness classes. The question we are going to examine as a boutique fitness franchise is why do men come to get a personal trainer. Now sure there are many men out there who refuse to hire a personal trainer as they feel that it’s in some ways an attack on their manhood. ’I know what I’m doing in the gym!’ They always explain when they find out they are speaking to a personal trainer who works at a fitness franchise.
However, many of these same men who believe they know what they are doing in the gym see the power in having a coach to help them maximize their potential. Think of it this way, Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball of all time, yet he still had Phil Jackson (his coach) on the bench to help both he and the Chicago Bulls to maximize their ability. A personal trainer acts as the same way to many people who are very familiar with the gym and the weight room. In other words, a lot of our male clients are former athletes. Now don’t read too much into the word athlete because former athletes aren’t necessarily in shape or fit at all because some of these ‘athletes’ have not competed in their respective sports for decades. Here at Illuminate Gym Franchise Development we recognize that our clients come from all different walks of life and athletic backgrounds. Some of our clients have never been physical/athletic in their entire life and other people have just been out of the swing for awhile. In other words, some of our clients have to be educated on fitness while other customers just need an extra push from a personal trainer or their coach to achieve more. The common trend with a lot of our male personal training customers is that they are former athletes.
Thanks for checking in on our fitness franchise news here at Illuminate Gym. Check us out at www.gymfranchises.net when you you have a chance.

That’s right all those fitness experts and fitness professionals your gym franchises, mega gyms and small ‘mom and pop’ gyms are about to fill up with all those New Year’s Resolutions. Of course by March of this year all of those New Year’s Resolutions will probably find their ways back to the couch and back to that bag of potato chips. It seems that the combination of the all the holiday over-eating and the New Year brings people to the realization that it’s time to get back to the gym or to check out that new fitness franchise down the road. Then as the New Year’s Resolutions we make start to fade away out of our minds we go back to our regular habits of not going to the gym and eating too much. This is why the obesity levels of the the United States continues to swell to well over 60%. That’s why here at Illuminate Gym Franchise Development we have come up with a new idea for all of our fitness franchises this year.
This New Year we are not looking for New Year’s Resolutions… We are looking for New Year’s Results. That means we are asking all of our Illuminate Gym Franchise owners, personal trainers and other fitness professionals to start telling their new customers that making a hollow New Year’s Resolution isn’t enough this year. Our customers need to make a commitment to change their lifestyles by working out at Illuminate Gym and changing the nutrition habits that pushed them into making the New Year’s Resolution to get fit this year. So what do you think? Isn’t it time for you to start making New Year’s Results this year rather than that promise to yourself that you know you probably won’t keep. You need to make a commitment to your fitness and Illuminate Gym franchise locations and personal trainers can help you get there. Check out www.illuminategym.com or www.gymfranchises.net to see where our Illuminate Gym franchises are located. Thanks for reading have a healthy and happy New Year!

‘Tis the season for holiday eating and we are knee deep into it, but there is another culprit that has people not working out as hard as they can this Holiday Season. No matter what your religion or what you celebrate there is always a certain buzz around this time of year that seems to push people to plop their credit cards down on shop counters to buy things they wouldn’t during the rest of the year. This time of year also makes us all over indulge in rich foods that we don’t see anytime except this time of year. Not to mention the sheer amount of food we eat during this time of year pushes the United States’ adult population to gain an average of 3-4 pounds during this time period. At Illuminate Gym Franchise locations we also are well aware that people also start to get a bit more sedentary during the holidays, and even some of our hardest working clients start to slack a bit during the holiday season which doesn’t help with that weight gaining statistic for American adults.
It’s our personal trainers and fitness instructors’ jobs at our fitness franchise locations to help our customers stay focused on their fitness goals. The word we like to use at Illuminate Gym is ‘accountability’. You need to have accountability to yourself and to the quality of life you want to live in the future. Thanks so much for reading and please check out www.gymfranchises.net to read more about Illuminate Gym’s franchise development. Have a healthy day!

It’s always nice in our business to find personal trainers who are looking to make the next step in their fitness career. Earlier last week we hired a new personal trainer who has just begun working with clients at Illuminate Gym and he is doing a wonderful job. His passion for fitness and helping people is what will ultimately help him to become a successful personal trainer.
There are many individuals who get into personal training and look at it as a short term job opportunity, which I believe is fine as long as the passion for fitness and helping people is there. I know early on in my personal training career I had no idea this was the path I would be on, but I knew I had to work with people and quite frankly I loved being in the gym. However, becoming a professional athlete just wasn’t in the cards for me and after I looked into the bodybuilding world I figured didn’t hold much of a future unless I was interested in putting my personal health on the line with drug use. So I started personal training people and I found a lot of satisfaction in helping people achieve more than they thought was possible. It’s that attitude and passion I look for in personal trainers when we begin the hiring process and I think we really hit a home run with our newest personal trainer here in Denver.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have a healthy day!

Every time I voyage out to check out new fitness franchises I always come back to the same conclusion which is that education is the key to becoming more fit. So many of these new fitness franchises are based around circuit training and little to no education and I am absolutely shocked. Customers will not advance to their fitness goals without guidance because quite frankly most people just don’t know the right way to exercise, eat, lose weight, and ultimately how to be more fit. There are so many products and programs out there that do little for their customers except empty their bank accounts. The truth is that hiring a personal trainer is the best way to help yourself become the best you can be. This is true because a good personal trainer should be able to consult you on how to workout properly for your physical limitations and your fitness goals. A good personal trainer should also be able to consult you on your nutrition and supplement needs. You see it’s not enough just to show up at the gym a few times a week and then do whatever you want outside of a gym. That’s why circuit training franchises and ‘limited contact’ gyms just don’t make sense for your over all success.
I can assure you that at Illuminate Gym our personal trainers are committed to helping our customers get more fit through both our ‘High Oxygen Training’ and nutritional counseling. Thanks so much for reading our personal training blog here at www.illuminategym.com and look for a new Illuminate Gym site at www.gymfranchises.net. Have a healthy day!

There was a phone call into the Illuminate Gym in Denver, Colorado where someone was adamant about working out with me so of course we obliged. Our manager was really confused about some of the questions asked over the phone because the perspective client seemed very knowledgeable about what we did at Illuminate Gym, and it was also strange that she would ask specifically for me. I met with the young woman this Wednesday and I put her through an introductory workout that was by all accounts a bit more challenging than one of our first workouts. However, I assumed she could handle it as she was a personal trainer.
During the workout the personal trainer had trouble keeping up with the pace of ‘High Oxygen Training’ because it challenged her strength, stamina, and cardiovascular ability all at the same time. The workout lasted a little over 25 minutes and by the end she had found herself sitting on the ground trying to move some oxygen in and out of her lungs. She explained this was the hardest workout of her life again proving too me that ‘High Oxygen Training’ is one of the most effective training styles for both losing weight and challenging one’s overall fitness. A few hours after the session the personal trainer wrote an email explaining that she didn’t think she was mentally ready for our style of training. I guess our competitors are not keeping up with Illuminate Gym or High Oxygen Training.

Innovation? Does it really exist in the fitness world? This is a question I am continually asked over the course of a work week as people make their way into Illuminate Gym or call about our fitness franchise opportunities. My professional answer is pure and simply ‘No’. There really is no innovation in the fitness world. I know what you’re thinking ‘how could a CEO of a fitness franchise tell us there is no innovation in the fitness industry?’ The reason is because there is no method of staying fit that didn’t exist 50 years ago. For instance a couple of years ago I had a personal training client hand me the P90X DVD set and I took it home and tried it out. What I found inside were movements that personal trainers and athletes have done for years. The only real innovation when it comes to products like P90X is the marketing strategies of the companies that sell them. Now don’t get me wrong if you are a P90X fan I am not ripping the program as I completely agree that the P90X can be a very affective way to lose weight and get fit. However, it’s not because it’s a revolutionary way to train.
The point of this blog is to really look within our society and recognize that we have become lazy in the way that we can’t self -motivate ourselves to get more active and to focus on what we are eating on a daily basis. As I said before p90X (as an example) can be a very affective way to lose weight and increase the strength of your heart, but if you never put those DVD’s inside of your DVD player and get off the couch they will never work. Like plopping your credit card on the table for a gym membership you will never use also will never help you lose that extra weight. The bottom line is being fit is a lifestyle not a habit. It takes real discipline and hard work to maintain both your health and fitness. There is no magic pill, exercise regimen, or piece of equipment. There is only you and your discipline to get to the gym and the will to say ‘no’ to that donut on your receptionist’s desk at the office. There is no magic.
At Illuminate Gym we think our business model is very beneficial to our customers because our ‘High Oxygen Training’ is a proven system of personal training and because we are not a membership based gyms. All of our clients have scheduled workout times that they must keep with fitness professionals. It’s funny how easy it is to let ourselves down, but how crushed we become when we let someone else down. Illuminate Gym is all about accountability and proven personal training principles and dieting guidelines.
